Saskatchewan Blue Cross Joins Forces with Big Brothers Big Sisters to Support MEGABike Fundraising Event
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – June 29, 2023 – This morning, a group of 29 passionate employees from Saskatchewan Blue Cross embarked on a journey, cycling together to shine a spotlight on the exceptional efforts of Big Brothers Big Sisters in mentoring and guiding children and youth. They enthusiastically joined the second annual MEGABike fundraising challenge, a nationwide initiative orchestrated by Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) across Canada. This fantastic event, happening today, is poised to make a significant impact by generating vital funds to support the mentoring of children and youth in communities throughout the country.
MEGABike, a 29-person bicycle, symbolizes the collective effort and determination of individuals and organizations in driving positive social change for children and youth. Today in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, BBBS of Saskatoon is hosting the MEGABike event, offering participants an exhilarating team-building experience while pedaling to unlock the potential of young people in our community.
As a passionate advocate for the well-being and development of individuals, especially children and youth, Saskatchewan Blue Cross is thrilled to support this meaningful initiative. Through our sponsorship, we aim to empower young people and inspire healthier lives within our community.
Megan Douglas, Senior Vice President, Chief Brand & Commercial Officer, from Saskatchewan Blue Cross, expressed her enthusiasm and stated, “We are excited to be part of the MEGABike challenge, which not only promotes physical activity but also raises crucial funds to support mentoring programs for children and youth. By investing in their potential today, we are building a stronger and brighter future for our community.”
The route takes place downtown Saskatoon, along Spadina Crescent West and through Riversdale, lasting approximately 30-40 minutes, an entertaining and memorable experience for all. Following the ride, participants can enjoy Happy Hour at Hudson’s or return to work, knowing they have made a positive impact.
“When we ignite potential in children early in life through mentoring, they are better able to face and navigate life’s adversities in the future,” said W. Matthew Chater, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. “Our data shows that for every dollar invested, there is a 23-fold return to society,” he added, emphasizing the significant impact of mentoring.
Saskatchewan Blue Cross remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote healthy lives and communities, and the MEGABike event aligns perfectly with our vision. We believe that by investing in the potential of children and youth, we are building a stronger and more vibrant future for all.
