Saskatchewan Blue Cross partners with Make-A-Wish® Canada for Wish Hero Campaign

Saskatoon, SK | Make-A-Wish® Canada is pleased to announce our upcoming Wish Heroes Campaign, running April 1 through April 29, 2022. In partnership with Saskatchewan Blue Cross®, we are enlisting the help of 25 Wish Heroes from across the province to raise $1,000 each. For every dollar raised, Blue Cross will match up to $25,000, essentially helping us grant five wishes. Saskatchewan Blue Cross is a proud supporter of wishes in our province, having donated over $110,000 since 2006. At the conclusion of the 2021 Wish Heroes Campaign, they will have granted 11 wishes to medically eligible children across the province.

“Make-A-Wish is a true community leader. The mission of uniting Saskatchewan to fulfil wishes for children with critical illnesses, changes lives,” said Cheryl de Villiers, Director of Marketing and External Affairs for Saskatchewan Blue Cross.

“Saskatchewan Blue Cross is honored to be supporting this year’s Wish Heroes campaign. We’ve been involved in making wishes come true since 2006 and it has been a privilege to witness the amazing work being done in our community each year. Best of luck to all the Wish Heroes involved in this year’s campaign! Your dedication and effort help to change the lives of Saskatchewan children who are waiting for their wish to come true.”

“We currently have 232 wish kids in Saskatchewan waiting for their wish to come true” said Allyson Toye, Manager of Development with Make-A-Wish. “COVID-19 has dealt a negative impact for Make-A-Wish Canada with a revenue shortfall of $12 million this last year as a result of the cancellation of many fundraising activities. Our team continues to work tirelessly to deliver wishes for children within the limits of COVID-19 and to make preparations to address the significant backlog of wishes we will see when the pandemic comes to an end. The continued support of Saskatchewan Blue Cross is helping us to work towards our goal of granting a wish for every eligible child.”
