JOB FUNCTION
Reporting to the VP, Sales and Marketing, this role is a key member of our leadership team.  This position is responsible for revenue, product development, managing customer relations, planning, and project and change management for the Individual Sales area. The Sales Manager fosters an environment that builds engagement, encourages learning and the delivery of exceptional service to our clients.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Formulate innovative business development strategies, working closely with other department managers and executives, to ensure Individual Product sales initiatives meet and integrate with organizational objectives, values, quality of service and regulatory requirements
  • Develop sales policies and strategies for our Individual Product including: product/service mix, product/service improvements, pricing and margins to ensure long term sustainability and growth
  • Assess, develop, plan and implement sales and client retention and development programs and strategies
  • Develop, plan, implement and manage new products, product remodeling and contract revisions 
  • Analyze competitor products, distribution, and market and develop recommendations
  • Work with the marketing team to strategize and plan marketing materials, brochures, advertising, etc. that promotes Individual products and services
  • Manage and assess operational effectiveness in terms of competitiveness, administrative practices and procedures and staying current with trends and technology
  • Conduct market and technology research and anticipate and respond to developments in the industry
  • Ensure adequate internal controls are maintained
  • Establish and maintain appropriate systems for measuring necessary aspects of organizational performance
  • Manage the efforts and activities of the sales department in alignment with corporate revenue goals and objectives
  • Budget planning and monitoring of expenditures and reporting, including ongoing forecasting and revenue projections
  • Manage and develop direct reports, foster teamwork, manage change and ensure effective communication within the department and across the organization
  • Oversee all human resources functions for the team including workforce planning, performance management and recruitment
  • Form productive and sustainable relationships with internal and external clients, brokers, business leaders and in the community
  • Advocate and drive change, manage resistance and ensure effective communications
  • Acts as a representative, participates, manages and/or leads various internal, regional and national committees, projects and initiatives as required
  • Lead and manage other related projects and initiatives as required

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or another related field, along with a minimum of five to eight years of experience in a related role.  An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.
  • Experience in all aspects of sales, including growth strategies, distribution channel management, account development, product development, marketing and business planning
  • Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in the insurance or health care industry

  • A demonstrated focus in ongoing professional education and development is required
